BILOXI, MS (Saturday, February 11, 2006) – Roy Anderson Corp has partnered with the ABC hit television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to construct a Hurricane Katrina Memorial on the Biloxi Town Green.
“With so many homeless, it’s hard to focus on just one family. So we decided to do something that will help the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast community,” said Roy Anderson, III, President and CEO of Roy Anderson Corp.
The Roy Anderson Corp memorial project will be part of four special Thursday night episodes of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” that will include the Mississippi Gulf Coast, New Orleans, Texas and Florida. The Thursday night series will begin airing March 16, 2006.
Roy Anderson Corp will complete the Hurricane Katrina Memorial on Wednesday, February 15th. The entire construction area will be hidden from public view until the formal unveiling, which will take place that day at 6:00 p.m. From groundbreaking to the unveiling, the Roy Anderson Corp construction team, including 130 employees and sub-contractors, will complete the memorial within five days (107 hours) working literally around-the-clock.
“We’re thankful the entire nation has reached out to the people here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” said Anderson. “It is our hope this memorial will encourage the nation to just keep helping us get back up on our knees, and we’ll get on our feet from there.”
“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA. The series is executive-produced by Tom Forman. The show airs Sundays (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET), on ABC Television Network.
